Wye Mountain Picture Interest?

I had a client ask if I would be doing any pictures out at Wye Mountain this year for the daffodil festival, so I'm thinking about turning it into a few hours for mini sessions...would anyone be interested in that?  I'm not sure what the cost for the session will be just yet, but will figure something up if there is enough interest.  I will only have a few slots open so make sure and get on my mailing list (form is at bottom) because the email list will be the first to know!  Comment or email me and let me know if this would be something you're interested in!  The dates would likely be March 19th weekend or March 26th weekend.

I've been crazy busy lately, but have been meaning to post a picture of what exactly a gallery wrap is.  Some of my collections include a 16x20 Fine Art Canvas Gallery Wrap which are one of my very favorite products!  The picture of your choice is printed on canvas and wrapped around a 1.5 inch wooden frame, so when you receive it, it's ready to hang right then and there!

There is also a laminate coating to protect the gallery wrap from scuffs, scratches, and cracking.  This coating will also provide UV light protection.

Now, why did I choose 16x20 to offer in my collections?! So many people are scared of going big, but I assure you, you will LOVE big prints hanging in your house. I actually really like bigger, but it's all about where you are putting it.

It's rather ironic because Amy Ro, a fabulous photographer from Rhode Island, just wrote a great article on how bigger is better...be sure and go read it, it's really eye opening and puts things in perspective on how you should decide the size of your wall prints.
(article is here: Bigger Really is Better, Version 2.0, by Amy Ro Photography)

Anyways, I did my own little experiment a couple of weeks ago and yes, just now posting it.  When you walk into my house, and look to your left, about 12ish feet away is where this 16x20 gallery wrap is hanging.  If this were an 11x14, you would NOT be able to see it.  I just love that it makes an impact for my friends and family when they walk through my front door.

Doesn't that make you just want one?!? I can't wait to have kids so I can plaster a bunch of huge canvases on my wall!

It seems only fitting that I finally blog my sister's family photos now from last Fall.  I got some VERY exciting news this past weekend that my sister is ENGAGED!!!  I'm so flippin' excited for her!  What's even better?  We actually like the guy haha!  Lane is so good to Sara and her 3 kids, I really couldn't pick out a better husband for my sister.  She really deserves all the happiness in the world, even if it took her several years to find it ;)  Now I get to help plan a wedding, and of course, that excites me because that is right up my alley, yay!

This family...

will soon become this (!!):

And here's a picture of the 3 beautiful kids that are growing up WAYYYYYyyyyy too fast before my eyes!

(I edited these a little bit warmer, not sure if I like it or not yet...)

My old coworker's wife contacted me about a month ago wanting me to do 2 year pictures for her son, Ben.  I knew right away this was a hard age to photograph, but I always have confidence and know I will get a lot of VERY cute pictures, they may just not be as posed as other ages.  Honestly, I love candid/lifestyle photography anyways!  I have found those candid/lifestyle portraits come in handy for ages 1-2.5 year olds...the age they want to run AWAY from me and not look at me hah!

The session was yesterday, and I'm about to start editing through all of them, but I knew right away when this picture was taken it would be one of my favorites...so I figured I'd share it as a sneak peek for Mom and Dad!  Hope you love it!!

Aaaaackkk, isn't he adorable?  Gonna be a heartbreaker, I just know it!

I can't get enough of this precious Evie, she is just GORGEOUS.  I went to Conway last week and took lots of pictures of one of my #1 models (you've seen her all over my blog, I promise!).  Enjoy the sneak peeks!

I took some "3 year pictures" of Carson a couple of weeks ago, and we decided to throw some valentine portraits in there. She LOVED that sucker, and her mom said they ate on it for about 2-3 days, and then she finally decided to just throw it in the trash hah! Do people ever really eat the whole thing I wonder?

Anyways, I did a little collage of a few of the pictures, she was hamming it up for us!  The backdrop is actually a shower curtain from Target, cute though, huh?

Not sure why this looks off in sharpness...and everything.  Note to self: Learn how to use Lightroom's collage function better.

We also tried to come up with a shot that mom could use as her valentine card for school.  I saw this idea in blog/internet land every.where (wish I could take credit!), and mentioned it to mom, and she LOVED it.  Mom took a picture of the final product after she printed and assembled them, and that picture is below.  She's actually going to put something sturdy on the back so the sucker doesn't just flop over.  Anyways, how cute is this?!

Happy February!

I've decided I really need a kid to play with on these kinds of holidays so I can do cutesy pictures and cards! Luckily, I have a few sessions this month that I will squeeze in some Valentine's day theme kind of photos! I'll try to post pictures of one precious little girl I did a couple of weeks ago later tonight!

If anyone is thinking about getting photos done by yours truly, be sure and go ahead and book with me! Since I have a full time job that is not photography, right now my limit is 4 sessions a month so I can put good quality work into each and every session I do (while being a good wife and spending time with my husband :D). I have had several already book for the spring, so be sure and contact me if you're interested in a session! My email is melissa@melissareibephotography.com.
